Stand and Be Counted!
Thank you for the opportunity to share with you our organization, “We Are Our Brother’s Keeper.” I serve as the Founder / Executive Director of this 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization since 2005.

We are a “grass roots” organization founded on principles of taking action against the unfortunate plight of homelessness in the world we live. We elected to provide BACKPACKS to homeless women, children and men on Skid Row in downtown L.A. and throughout the L.A. county.

Our BACKPACKS are filled with products such as water, “pop-up” can goods, scarves, hats, gloves, soup, juice, blankets, etc. We particularly encourage “hygiene” products! The BACKPACKS are filled with “A Whole Lot of Love!” We believe the BACKPACKS serve as a viable resource that homeless people can utilize and certainly appreciate.

“We Are Our Brother’s Keeper” in its first year 2005, distributed over 100 BACKPACKS, and in 2019 greater than 5,000 BACKPACKS ! We are GROWING! We pride our success solely on God’s grace, dedicated volunteers and donations.

Our goal for year 2024 is 6000 BACKPACKS!” We critically need products for the “Backpacks” and financial contributions to meet our goals !

BACKPACKS ARE AVAILABLE NOW!!

“We Shall Continue With Our Mission. We Hope You Share The Vision.”

Blessings!

2020 Highlights coming soon!!

below are pictures of the event

Our Annual event for We Are Our Brother’s Keeper on December 19, 2020 of giving The BACKPACKS to the homeless was a roaring success despite the constraints of COVID-19. Our normal efforts of collecting and distributing The BACKPACKS were altered because of the pandemic. Despite the challenges, there was an outpouring of spirit to contribute and an unbridled joy of giving. We were still able to deliver The BACKPACKS to the Union Rescue Mission downtown. This year we relied more heavily on our Outreach Arm and its Street Soldiers to deliver THE BACKPACKS throughout Los Angeles.

I would like to thank organizations, donors, family members, friends, and tireless and committed volunteers whose efforts collectively made our mission successful in impacting and bringing attention to helping those less fortunate. We will continue to serve our Homeless Community until it is solved.

Highlights from 2019

“We Are Our Brother’s Keeper” is still standing in the gap 15-years strong!!! Homelessness is out of control and we won’t stop! We can’t! Your commitment and dedication to making a “change” in the lives of the disenfranchised is crucial!

We shall distribute “BACKPACKS” to our homeless families Union Rescue Mission in Downtown Los Angeles and throughout Los Angeles.  Our goal for December 2021 is to distribute over 5000 BACKPACKS TO THE HOMELESS!

“We shall continue with our Mission. We hope you share the Vision.”

Thank you again for giving to help others in need.

Blessings!

Message from the founder, Tamara Lewis

Brothers Keeper

“We Are Our Brother’s Keeper” inception was November 2005. We are a “grass roots” organization founded on principles of taking action against the unfortunate plight of homelessness in the world we live. We centered our focus on the homeless that live in the downtown Los Angeles skid row area. We have continued our efforts to impact homelessness with a profound commitment and a willingness to serve.
