Mission Statement

“To challenge the people of this great nation with taking action against the unfortunate plight of homelessness in the world we live. To instill and restore hope, and to love beyond self.”

Brothers KeeperThank you for the opportunity for me to share with you my organization, “We Are Our Brother’s Keeper.” From its inception November 2005, it was founded on principles of taking action against the unfortunate plight of homelessness.

Our focus is centered in the downtown skid row area of Los Angeles. We elected to provide “Backpacks” to homeless women, children and men. Our “Backpacks” are filled with products such as water, “pop-up” can goods, scarves, hats, gloves, soup, juice, hygiene, blankets, and other products. More importantly, the “Backpacks” are filled with “a whole lot of love!” It is our belief the Backpacks” serve as a viable resource, an amenity that homeless people can utilize and certainly appreciate.

1In our first year armed with only a few family members and friends, we distributed over 100 “Backpacks.” In 2009 more than 500 were filled and given to homeless women, children and men in downtown Los Angeles. In 2012 more than 1500 hundred were handed out. We pride our success solely on God’s grace, dedicated volunteers and the donations we receive from various sources.

“We Are Our Brother’s Keeper” is celebrating its 9th year of service to the homeless people of Los Angeles. This year 2014 we will be giving “2500 BACKPACKS!” We are in critical need of products to place in the “Backpacks” and financial contributions to help meet our commitment.

Helping Los AngelesWe recognize the growing numbers of homelessness with our present economy and we are seeking your support. It is a mission that we strongly believe, and one that we will continue to build a bridge of compassion . We hope you share the vision.

Thank you for your support of “We Are Our Brother’s Keeper.”
