Tamara G. Lewis,
Founder of “We Are Our Brother’s Keeper”

A Native of Los Angeles, the very last “Button on Gable’s Coat” (youngest of 13 children) and blessed by the guidance of exceptional parents Henry C., II and Faye E. Lewis, who instilled Christian values and taking ownership of being “Thy Brother’s Keeper.” A product of the renown South Central Los Angeles , she attended local neighborhood schools. A loyal and mighty “Toiler, ” she is a graduate of Manual Arts High school, where she served as Student Body President. Westwood bound, Tamara is a very dedicated and proud graduate of UCLA. Go Bruins!!

Always seeking a way to serve, she is quite honored by her membership in Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. She is a long lasting member of Faithful Central Bible Church and can remember walking and singing to church at the “61 St.” location, under the divine leadership of Bishop, Dr. Kenneth C. Ulmer. Tamara has worked as an Insurance Professional for many years. She is also a freelance writer ; a staff writer to Pace News with a circulation serving greater Los Angeles. Tamara has an appreciation for great food. She embraced the art of culinary whereby she owns and operates “The Lewis Flavors’ Catering.”

True to her purpose to serve, she is the Founder and Executive Director of the Non-Profit organization, “We Are Our Brother’s Keeper,” established in year 2005 with an emphasis on providing BACKPACKS “filled with love,” to homeless communities; also focusing on issues surrounding homelessness, education, health and empowerment. Tamara G. Lewis is the recipient of UCLA Black Alumni Association Arthur Ashe “Community Service Award”.
